Xiaomi unveiled the global version of its next-generation operating system, aka MIUI 8 alongside the 6.44-inch Mi Max phablet in July. The first public beta of MIUI 8 for India was available on July 11.

Xiaomi, at that time, had announced that the stable version of MIUI 8 will be out on August 16. Sadly, the update got delayed. MIUI 8 stable is now live and rolling out, it announced on Tuesday.
"We are really excited to announce that MIUI 8 global stable build is now rolling out! From now on, many of you should be able to progressively receive the update over-the-air (OTA) on your phones via the 'Updater' app," the company said on its official forum .
Supported devices in India include: Mi Max, Mi 5, Mi 4i, Mi 4, Mi 3, Mi 2 and Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note Prime, Redmi Note, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 2, Redmi 1s.
That being said, not all Xiaomi smartphones - eligible for the update - will receive the update at the same time. "Redmi 1S, Mi 2/2S, Mi 4i, Redmi Note 3G, Redmi Note 4G will be able to receive the update over-the-air today (August 23)," the company said.
"The update will be open to everyone on August 25," Xiaomi added.
MIUI 8 -- which is successor to MIUI 7 -- focuses a great deal on comfort and ease of use, and at the same time adds in some really smart and sophisticated features to the user interface atop Google's Android.
The new MIUI sees a major visual overhaul in its latest avatar. The pull down notification panel now has a consolidated list and a weather panel at the top that automatically changes colour (and animation) according to the weather. The Gallery app meanwhile sees a fresh revamp and allows users to add filters, stickers and crop their images. The new UI also supports video editing as well as Quick share controls. There's also a nifty screenshot scrolling feature that allows for multi-screen scrolling screenshots.
Other features bright in include: dual apps, second space, Quick Ball, improved Caller ID, one-touch SMS recharge service among others.
